November 2022 Queen Update
I hope everyone is staying safe through all these storms this past month.
Queen Amber and I had a busy October doing Watermelon promotions. From a school promotion at McKeel Academy Elementary School in Lakeland to attending the IFPA (PMA) show in Orlando, and being in Washington DC for the 47th Annual Marine Corp Marathon Run, to being at our 54th Annual Florida Watermelon Convention in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Starting in October Queen Amber and National Queen Bethany visited and read to all the first graders at McKeel Academy Elementary School. All the kids enjoyed the book “The Watermelon” by Orsolya Varga. Then we were off to a two-day event with the International Fresh Produce Association held at the Orange County Convention Center. Queen Amber enjoyed visiting and talking to everyone at this show about our Florida Watermelon Association.

On Sunday, Queen Amber along with the NWPB staff attended the 47th Annual Marine Corp Marathon. They handed out 33,600 containers of watermelons to all the runners.
Thank you to NWPB for this awesome promotion. Our month ended with our 54th Annual Florida Watermelon Convention “Farmers: The Original Gamblers”.
Congratulations to Alyssa Armentrout for being selected as our 2023 Florida Watermelon Queen.

Congratulations to Reagan Hudson, our first runner-up, and winner of the 2023 Miss Jubilee Award. Congratulations to Kensley Durrance our second runner-up. All the contestants did an incredible job this year competing for the Florida Watermelon Queen Title.
Until next time –
