May 2022 Queen Update

Updated: May 26, 2022

First, a huge congratulations to our 2021 Florida Watermelon Queen, Bethany Barfield, for bringing home the National Watermelon Queen Title.

Former FWA Queen Bethany crowned National Queen title

She did an incredible job in Nashville representing us. Thank you to everyone that came out to Nashville and supported us. We are all so proud of you, Bethany.

Our new Florida Watermelon Queen, Amber Boykin, has been hard at work since the Florida watermelon season has begun. Don't forget to go out and pick up a Fresh from Florida Watermelon at your local grocery store. Queen Amber and I have been extremely

busy in recent months. We started off promotions by visiting watermelon farmers in the packing shed, attending the CARES dinner, visiting Mobley Plant World, attending many schools’ Ag-Ventures Days, and the Wine & Food Festival with Chef Justin from the Dept of Agriculture, along with a video shoot in his Tallahassee kitchen.

In addition to these events, Queen Amber and I have done promotions at Sprouts Grocery Stores, Detwiler’s Farm Market, and the 70th Anniversary of Farmers Markets opening. We’ve also had the opportunity to go to the Camping World Truck Raceꟷ to see #41, Ross Chastain!

In the next few months, we will be doing more North Florida farm tours, attending our North Florida Watermelon festival, and visiting many grocery stores all over Florida, promoting something everyone loves, watermelons!

I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous watermelon season!
