February 2022 Queen Update

In November, Queen Bethany and I attended the 55th Annual Texas Watermelon Convention. A fun-filled weekend of visiting farms -- a beautiful poinsettia farm -- and seeing the border wall that runs through a Sugar Cane Farm.

Congratulations go out to Miss Olivia Johnson for being selected as the 2022 Texas Watermelon Queen. A very special Thank You to our sponsors: Texas Watermelon Association, Sweet Mama Produce, and Wilbur Smith Attorney at Law.

Also during the month of November, Queen Bethany and I attended 20th Annual Suwannee Valley Cares Dinner (held in Live Oak) and the “Fresh from Florida” Taste of Agriculture Reception.

The month of December we were still busy promoting Florida Watermelons at the Suwanee Valley Watermelon Institute in Fanning Springs. Everyone in attendance enjoyed a fresh-cut slice of Florida Watermelon.

That following weekend we traveled to Nokomis, Florida for the 16th Annual Florida Seed

Skeet Shoot. Queen Bethany enjoyed helping out with the annual auction and getting the opportunity to try out skeet shooting for the first time. During these events, we were able to sign up many new members to the association. Thanks to everyone that came out and supported these wonderful events and to our sponsors: Jody Land Farms, Super Sweet Farms, Diamond 99, and International Paper.

Our 2022 Queen, Amber Boykin, will be starting off her reign this month at the Florida State Fair in Tampa in our newly renovated booth.

As our season is approaching us in the next month, we would like to wish all of our watermelon farmers a successful and prosperous year!

If you like for Queen Amber to attend an event, please reach out to me at (863) 633-8306 or
