It is hard to believe how fast this year is moving. Thanksgiving next up and Christmas right around the corner. Wow, how time flies. I want to give a special thank you this month to all of you who have contributed to the FWA newsletter, whether it be by way of an article, grower spotlight, or organizing any of the FWA newsletter content. Our intention with the newsletter is to keep our members informed on news in our industry and how your association is trying to keep our commodity relative in today's Agriculture. Thank you again to all that have and to those who continue to support our FWA newsletter.
As this year has materialized and we all have had to deal with different issues that have at times tested our real core, I have heard from a lot of members who wish the membership could somehow get together since our October convention was canceled till October 2021. Your board formed a committee and that committee came up with a one night casual get together. A one-night event of good food, great fellowship, and an auction. The event will be named FWA Auction Night on the Farm. For FWA membership (or any new member who would like to come) we are asking you to attend from 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm on Friday, January 15th to relax and enjoy yourself. The venue will be held at a great place in Plant City. There will be NO charge for this event. We just want everyone to come and enjoy. Going to have a great meal with all the trimmings, including homemade ice cream and banana pudding. We will have an open bar from beginning to end of the event and we will mix in our load donor auction with our supplier auction too. We will have raffle items throughout the night so everyone will have a chance of taking home some great door prizes. There will be a fire pit for the kids to roast marshmallows, kids games of all sorts, and if the weather is right a hayride for the kids. There is a list of three hotels that are within 15 minutes of our venue that we will have set up with a discounted rate by mentioning FWA. You will receive the hotel list and all the particulars to make your reservations if staying the night. One of the hotels offers a free shuttle back and forth to the venue if needed.
The year 2020 has been a trying year, to say the least. For some, this year has been a great watermelon year but for others, it was not such a great year. Let us all keep that roller coaster in mind as we exit 2020 and enter into a new year of uncertainty. I pray we all will finish 2020 healthy, first and foremost. It is my hope you will make January 15th a great success. There will be quite a few of your fellow members who will put in hours of time to see that you and your family can come for one night of great fellowship. Be a part of it, get involved...it truly is the only way to make a difference.
Looking forward to seeing everyone real soon.
Take care, be safe and God Bless.
