Thank you to everyone who joined us at the 52nd Annual Florida Watermelon Association Annual Convention held January 16-18 at the Sanibel Harbor Marriott Resort and Spa in Fort Myers!
We had three days packed with networking and education, with a focus on disease and insect research and H-2A.
It was a privilege to join together at our annual President’s Reception and Dance! For those who missed it – Trey and Katelyn Miller blew away the competition in their beach attire at our dance costume contest!
We would be remiss if we did not thank everyone who participated in our Auction which brought in over $268,022, including 20 donated loads and $12,000 in donations! We truly appreciate the generosity of our members and your commitment to sustaining the good work we are doing in the Florida watermelon industry.
We also want to once again congratulate and honor our award winner, John Lapide, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you for your dedication and loyalty to FWA.
The convention wrapped up ushering in our 2020 Florida Watermelon Queen: Bethany Barfield! Welcome Bethany and congratulations! We look forward to having you represent FWA and the Florida watermelon industry in 2020.
Thank you again to our 269 attendees! We hope to see everyone again November 4-6, 2020 in Orlando at the Rosen Shingle Creek!
